Vintage Kashkuli Nazem Persian Rug
ABOUT THIS PIECE
Finely Handwoven by the famous Kashkuli clan of Qashqai nomads of southwestern Persia. Improvised woven as an iteration of the rare and highly desirable Nazem motif. Qashqai nomadic carpets are unique one of a kind pieces of art handwoven through a combination of improvisation and reference to folk iconography on horizontal looms. Made from sustainably sourced local handspun wool and natural dyes, Qashqai nomadic carpets often depict an aerial view abstraction of the weaver’s pastoral nomadic life, featuring many animals, people and plants and fields. Qashqai weaving techniques and more generally the weaving traditions of Fars, are registered as world intangible heritage by Unesco.
