ABOUT THIS PIECE
Faradonbeh, in Borujen County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran, is a village with a deep-rooted legacy in carpet weaving, passed down through its largely Turkic-speaking community, likely from the Abiverdi tribe.
With a history spanning centuries, Faradonbeh’s carpets gained recognition 160 years ago, blending foreign and local designs that set them apart. Signature motifs, such as roses surrounded by delicate leaves, reflect the unique artistry of Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari artisans. Crafted from hand-spun sheep’s wool, dyed with natural hues from madder, weld, and walnut husks, these carpets showcase patterns of flowers, vases, medallions, trees, and mihrabs, often improvised by the weavers themselves. Faradonbeh carpets capture a unique heritage of eclectic artistry and craftsmanship.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
163 × 103 CM (5'4" × 3'5"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 12 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
