ABOUT THIS PIECE
Woven by the Luri subgroup of the Qashqai Confederacy in Fars Province, this mid-20th century Persian rug features a bold triple diamond medallion design on a warm madder red field. The composition is anchored by a reciprocal leaf main border, framed by narrow guard stripes in ivory, indigo, and green. The palette blends traditional natural dyes rich madder reds, deep indigo, and plant-based yellows. Structurally, it is distinctive: ivory wool warps spun together with dark brown/grey fibres, and mostly dark brown wool wefts, giving the rug a supple yet weighty handle. With around 30 knots per 7 cm horizontally, the weave is both robust and precise. This Persian carpet embodies the vibrant geometry and cultural continuity of Qashqai Luri weaving, ideal for interiors or collections celebrating authentic tribal artistry.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
244 × 144 CM (8' × 4'9"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
Only 32 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Under the lower part of a queen bed with 46 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
