Vintage Bakhtiari Cypress Lattices Persian Rug
ABOUT THIS PIECE
Masterfully Handwoven in Chahar Mahl region of western Persia.
The region of Chaharmahal on the slopes of Mount Zardkuh is famous for producing some of the most unique and hardy village carpets of Persia. Featuring a unique combination of geometric village motifs and elaborate floral designs inspired by motifs of nearby Isfahan, Chaharmahl rugs are made from sustainably sourced local handspun wool and natural dyes and are famous for their character and individuality.
Handwoven Utilizing a rare large Qabi Sarv (cypress lattices) motif, Cypresses are utilized in this carpet as a sign of eternal life interconnected with a series of large intricate bell-shaped lattices.
This carpet has been produced in the mid 20th century and still features a lustrous soft pile with vivid and live Abrash colours owing to the use of high-quality handspun wool and durable cotton foundation.

280 × 165 CM (9'2" × 5'5"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 43 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
Under the lower part of a king bed with 49 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
