ABOUT THIS PIECE
This mid-20th century Bakhtiari Hinegun carpet presents the classic twin diamond medallion layout, framed by deep indigo borders alive with stylised floral and animal motifs. Woven in the Chahar Mahal region during the 1950s–60s, its structure features blue-dyed cotton wefts, ivory cotton warps, and a lustrous wool pile of exceptional quality. The palette is warm and harmonious, with madder red, deep indigo, soft ivory, and a restrained saffron orange, all of which appear to be natural dyes on visual inspection. The 36 Raj (approx. 13 knots per inch) weave delivers crisp floral outlines and balanced geometry, reflecting village mastery without losing its organic charm. Ideal for both traditional and eclectic interiors, this Persian rug embodies durability and cultural depth, offering a living link to Bakhtiari tribal artistry. A fine choice for collectors seeking an authentic, mid-century Persian carpet with regional character.
