ABOUT THIS PIECE
This striking Bakhtiari Persian rug presents the celebrated Kheshti (garden panel) design, each compartment filled with lively imagery of birds, lions, deer, camels, and floral shrubs. Handwoven in the Chahar Mahal region around the mid-20th century, the rug exemplifies the village tradition of creating symbolic garden layouts, where each square represents a fragment of paradise. Its robust cotton foundation supports a dense pile ensuring durability while maintaining crisp clarity of the animal and botanical motifs. The palette blends deep madder reds, indigo blues, ivory grounds, and natural greens, enlivened with touches of golden yellow and orange. Subtle abrash in the salmon tones adds depth and authenticity. Well preserved this Persian carpet offers both collectible charm and functional use, ideal for anchoring a living space or gallery interior with cultural richness and tribal artistry.
