This dated carpet from 1978 was handwoven in Hamedan in Western Persia.
The elaborate central Toranj (medallion) is surrounded by a field of flowers on a deep navy background.
Made from sustainably sourced handspun local wool and organic dyes, this carpet still maintains a thick, lustrous pile after more than 4 decades.
