Ardakan Lachak Toranj Persian Rug
ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven from handspun wool on a durable cotton foundation using high-quality dyes in Ardakan, Central Persia.
Ardakan rugs are renowned for their magnificent beauty and high quality. As a testament to their craftsmanship and fine materials, Ardakan rugs have been known to last for hundreds of years. Their classical beauty and elegance will deliver a very polished and refined look to every home. Ardakan is located between Yazd and Nain, but its influence comes primarily from the Kashan weaving tradition.
The designs are typically woven around a central medallion, with some repeating in the corners. The other fields on Ardakan rugs may be densely adorned with lovely flowers and vines. The main border on Ardakan rugs most frequently features the renowned Herati (arched leaf) motif, while the secondary borders feature rosettes.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
256 × 143 CM (8'5" × 4'8"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
Only 32 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Under the lower part of a queen bed with 52 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
