ABOUT THIS PIECE
This Tabriz Mahi Persian rug from north-west Iran shows the enduring elegance of the Herati design. Woven between 1960 and 1980, it measures 292 × 198 cm and is crafted with a cotton foundation, double wefts and a durable wool pile. Its central diamond medallion is set within a lattice of rosettes and stylised leaves, framed by deep navy corners and a richly patterned border of palmettes and cartouches. The terracotta field and warm salmon tones reflect an Ardabil-influenced palette, yet the structure and knot regularity are true to Tabriz weaving. Colours are largely natural and balanced producing a harmonious and resilient finish. Clean and well preserved, this Persian carpet is ideal for both collectors and interiors seeking a timeless Tabriz rug of lasting quality.
