ABOUT THIS PIECE
This striking Bakhtiari Goldani Persian rug, woven in the Chahar Mahal region during the 1940s, presents an unusually creative interpretation of the celebrated “flower vase” motif. Instead of the conventional single urn, the design features four large ivory vases symmetrically arranged across a madder red field, each overflowing with stylised blossoms. The effect is bold yet refined, lending the carpet an almost architectural rhythm that distinguishes it from more formulaic Bakhtiari Goldani rugs.
The foundation is ivory cotton throughout, with handspun cotton warps and lightly depressed wefts, resulting in a supple, cloth-like handle rather than the stiff, board-like character often associated with Bakhtiari weaving. The wool pile is coloured with natural dyes: deep indigo blues, glowing madder red, over-dyed greens, and golden yellow accents softened by gentle abrash. Durable yet artistic, this collectible Persian carpet is equally at home in a refined living room, dining space, or gallery setting.

The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 48 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
