ABOUT THIS PIECE
This elaborate vintage Lillian Fine Floral Lachak Toranj Carpet has been handwoven by Armenian weavers from the famous town of Lillian in western Persia in an iteration of the famous Lachak Toranj design.
Made from sustainably-sourced local handspun wool on a durable cotton foundation with a special lustre similar to silk due to the high-quality wool and dyes used in this carpet.
Famous for their detailed elements, Lillian carpets’ Toranjs are surrounded by intricate curvilinear flower and leaf motifs that cover the entire field, making the carpets remarkably pleasing to see. It is noteworthy that all Armenian Toranj-style carpets woven In this region have crosses and secret crosses integrated in the design.
