ABOUT THIS PIECE
Masterfully handwoven in the Chahar Mahal region of western Persia. Woven over 50 years ago, this vintage Bakhtiari carpet still features a lustrous thick soft pile with vivid and live Abrash colours owing to the use of high-quality handspun wool and natural dyes used in its construction. The region of Chahar Mahal on the slopes of Mount Zardkuh is famous for producing some of the most unique and hardy village carpets of Persia. Featuring a unique combination of geometric village motifs and elaborate floral designs inspired by motifs of nearby Isfahan, Chahar Mahl rugs are made from sustainably sourced local handspun wool and natural dyes and are famous for their character and individuality. Requiring a significant investment of time, expertise and material, Large Bakhtiari Chaharmahal carpets are the result of cooperation between a group of experts and can take many years to complete.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
170 × 105 CM (5'7" × 3'5"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 13 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
