ABOUT THIS PIECE
This striking Bakhtiari Lachak Toranj Persian rug was woven in Chahar Mahal around the 1940s. The rug presents a classical medallion and corner design with a rich crimson field filled with floral sprays, botehs, and scrolling vines. An elegant ivory medallion anchors the composition, framed by four matching spandrels, while the broad border carries rosettes and palmettes that create a strong sense of rhythm. The pile is handspun wool set on a cotton foundation, giving a medium-fine handle that balances durability with clarity of drawing. The palette combines natural dyes such as madder red, indigo, and muted orange with selected early synthetics in the greys, salmon pinks, and pale greens, adding variety without disrupting harmony. In excellent condition, this vintage Persian carpet makes a commanding statement in living or dining settings, blending collectible value with strong decorative appeal.
