ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven from high-quality handspun wool on a durable cotton foundation, In Nain, central Persia.
Since the early 1930s, skilled artisans have woven rugs of high density in the town of Nain, often more than one million knots per square meter. These rugs are famous for their soft and calming colour palette of ivory and complementing khaki or sky blues. Nain rugs are nearly always composed of high-quality and soft wool piles with ivory highlights of silk. Patterns with a medallion in the middle, together with arabesques and floral motifs are common. Nain carpet designs are similar to rugs of the neighbouring city of Isfahan but are identifiable by their stunning pastel colour palette of ivory.
A classic Super fine Nain 4 La Persian rug in an elegant ivory ground carries a crisp, layered medallion in sky and midnight blue, framed by scrolling islimi and finely drawn palmettes. The palette, ivory, celadon, camel and inky navy is cool and luminous, with sharp outlines and supple handle typical of high‑twist kurk wool pile. Construction is the expected Nain format: cotton warps and cotton wefts, compactly beaten so the drawing stays perfectly curvilinear. Dyes are as high‑grade , giving clear, stable blues and clean neutrals suited to contemporary interiors. Condition is excellent with an even, velvety pile and tidy sides and ends, ideal for living rooms, bedrooms or a refined entry. For Australian homes, this piece bridges heritage craft and modern calm, pairing beautifully with stone, timber and brushed metal.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
195 × 113 CM (6'5" × 3'8"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 17 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Only 21 cm of rug would show either side of a queen bed. It works, but 45 cm or more looks settled. At the foot of the bed it suits well.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
