ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven from high-quality handspun wool on a durable cotton foundation, In Nain, central Persia.
Since the early 1930s, skilled artisans have woven rugs of high density in the town of Nain, often more than one million knots per square meter. These rugs are famous for their soft and calming colour palette of ivory and complementing khaki or sky blues. Nain rugs are nearly always composed of high-quality and soft wool piles with ivory highlights of silk. Patterns with a medallion in the middle, together with arabesques and floral motifs are common. Nain carpet designs are similar to rugs of the neighbouring city of Isfahan but are identifiable by their stunning pastel colour palette of ivory.
This Nain Persian runner showcases the elegance and precision for which the region’s weaving tradition is renowned, making it a refined addition to both classic and contemporary interiors
