Mashhad Gholamian Lachak Toranj Persian Rug, c. 1950s–70s
ABOUT THIS PIECE
This fine Mashhad carpet, woven in the renowned Gholamian workshop, embodies the elegance for which Khorassan weaving is celebrated. Signed in cartouche, it features a bold central medallion in deep indigo set against a vibrant crimson field, surrounded by floral sprays and scrolling palmettes. The fine weave creates a crisp rendition of each floral detail, while the lustrous wool pile reflects the high grade materials selected in Mashhad during the mid 20th century.
The colour palette blends madder reds, indigo blues, and natural golden ochres with carefully overdyed greens and subtle chrome-assisted oranges typical of the period. The overall harmony gives the carpet a regal yet welcoming presence. In very good condition with full pile and intact borders, this Gholamian Lachak Toranj Persian Carpet offers both decorative beauty and collectible pedigree, ideally suited to Australian interiors where refinement and history meet.
