ABOUT THIS PIECE
Woven by Amaleh women of the Qashqai tribe in southwest Iran during the mid-twentieth century, the piece marries tribal geometry with a palette that feels at home in contemporary interiors. Whether used as a Persian carpet on the floor, layered under modern furniture, or hung as a decorative flatweave, it injects heritage colour and artisanal character into living rooms, galleries and design studios alike.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
264 × 155 CM (8'8" × 5'1"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 38 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
Under the lower part of a queen bed with 56 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
