ABOUT THIS PIECE
Abadeh is a small city located within the summer residence of the Qashqai Confederacy and about halfway between the major carpet producing cities of Isfahan and Shiraz. With a reputation for producing the most finely woven Qashqai rugs, Abade carpets feature unique nomadic designs combined with the quality of craftsmanship, durability and weaving techniques often seen in high-end urban rugs. The Qashqai nomadic rugs are unique pieces of art, handwoven through a combination of improvisation and reference to folk iconography. Made from sustainably sourced local handspun wool and natural dyes, Qashqai nomadic rugs often depict an aerial view abstraction of the weaver’s pastoral nomadic life, featuring many animals, people and plants and fields. This Abade Qashqai carpet features wool on cotton construction with a finely woven thick and lustrous pile.
