ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven from high-quality handspun wool on a silk foundation, In Nain, central Persia. Since the early 1930s, skilled artisans have woven rugs of high density in the town of Nain, Often more than one million knots per square meter. The material in the more exclusive carpets consists of wool on a silk warp and weft as you see in this carpet. These rugs are famous for their soft and calming colour palette of ivory and complementing khaki or sky blues. Nain rugs are nearly always composed of high-quality and soft wool piles with ivory highlights of silk. Patterns with a medallion in the middle, together with arabesques and floral motifs are common. Nain carpet designs are similar to rugs of the neighbouring city of Isfahan but are identifiable by their stunning pastel colour palette of ivory.
