ABOUT THIS PIECE
This elegant semi-antique carpet has been finely handwoven in Kerman, Southeastern Persia from sustainably sourced local handspun wool on a durable dense cotton foundation. Kerman is one of the most prestigious and historical carpet weaving centres in Persia. Having been recognized and praised since the 16th century, Kerman carpets have found their way to many European palaces.
Kerman’s weaving techniques, and more generally, Kerman’s weaving traditions, are registered as a world intangible heritage by Unesco.
