ABOUT THIS PIECE
This fine Tabriz Persian rug, woven around the mid-20th century, showcases the precision and elegance of one of Persia’s most celebrated weaving centres. Its ivory ground carries an ornate floral medallion in burgundy and sky blue, framed by a dense field of blossoms, arabesques, and scrolling vines. The refined palette of deep red, pale green, and soft rose tones demonstrates the balanced artistry of Tabriz workshops.
Crafted on a cotton foundation with white cotton wefts and a knot density of approximately 40 Raj, the rug embodies both technical mastery and decorative grace. The dyes are predominantly natural, lending warmth and subtle abrash to the composition. The carpet retains its central beauty and remains in good condition with full pile. Collectible yet practical, this Persian carpet offers authenticity and refinement for interiors seeking an elegant, historic statement.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
240 × 140 CM (7'10" × 4'7"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
Only 30 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Under the lower part of a double bed with 51 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
