ABOUT THIS PIECE
This fine Isfahan Persian rug, woven in the 1970s, displays the precision and elegance for which the city’s workshops are renowned. Handknotted in the classic medallion-and-corner format, its ivory ground is animated with delicate arabesques, palmettes, and scrolling vines in shades of golden beige, black, muted blue, and soft camel. The refined drawing and balanced symmetry are complemented by a luxurious wool pile, supported by a cotton foundation, producing a supple yet durable handle.
Woven at an impressive 50 Raj knot density, the clarity of the motifs reflects the weaver’s mastery. The palette, subtly patinated with time, harmonises easily with both traditional and contemporary interiors. Ideal as a statement piece in a formal sitting room, library, or reception area, this Persian carpet captures the grace and technical finesse that have made Isfahan one of Iran’s most celebrated weaving centres.
