ABOUT THIS PIECE
Sanneh carpets are handwoven wool rugs produced in Sanandaj, western Iran. Renowned for their intricate designs, vibrant colours, and high-quality craftsmanship, these carpets are highly sought after.
The traditional motifs incorporated into Sanneh carpets are often influenced by both Persian and Kurdish cultural designs, and are created using a wide range of weaving techniques passed down through generations of local artisans.
With their unique beauty and cultural significance, Sanneh carpets are highly prized by collectors and interior designers alike. They are considered some of the finest examples of Iranian carpet making, with the wool often used of the highest quality and carefully selected to ensure the rug’s durability and longevity. Their skilled craftsmanship and use of traditional techniques make Sanandaj carpets true works of art, treasured by their owners.
The Sanneh Moshiri Gol Farang Persian Rug beautifully showcases the all-over Golfarang motif, featuring graceful rose bushes woven with intricate detail. Inspired by 18th- and 19th-century European artistry, this “European flower” design seamlessly blends Persian and Western aesthetics, expressing cultural harmony. Handwoven with premium wool, it embodies the enduring elegance and masterful craftsmanship that define the finest Sanandaj rugs.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
193 × 136 CM (6'4" × 4'6"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
About the length of a 3-seater sofa, so it sits just in front of it with the coffee table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island rather than a rug that came up short.
Only 28 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Only 20 cm of rug would show either side of a queen bed. It works, but 45 cm or more looks settled. At the foot of the bed it suits well.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
