ABOUT THIS PIECE
A strong muharammat Persian kilim from Sirjan, woven in two joined panels with the classic wolf-tooth inner border. Brick madder, olive, charcoal and ivory march in rhythmic stripes, punctuated by tidy ivory brocade devices that recall Afshar grammar. The colours read as natural, with quiet abrash that gives the Persian rug depth rather than glare. Handle is supple and durable, thanks to a wool-on-wool construction that sits flat and welcomes daily use. At nearly three by two metres, the piece anchors a living room, dining space or layered gallery interior, pairing easily with timber, stone and contemporary furniture. This vintage Persian carpet delivers graphic presence without shouting, carrying the calm cadence of Sirjan nomad weaving into an Australian home.
