ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven in Sanneh in northwestern Persia from fine local handspun wool on a durable cotton foundation, Sanneh kilims are famous for their exceptional aesthetic, fineness, and unique method of construction allowing for elaborate designs to be created as a flat weave kilim.
Kilims are a terrific type of rug that is usually made from wool which is interwoven rather than knotted; this means that the surface is ‘flat’ instead of having a ‘pile’. kilims exhibit some of the most original and unique designs within Persian rugs, with simple fields of colours, geometric shapes and symbols and motifs of flora and fauna. With their minimal design elements, they are perfectly suited for various interiors.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
155 × 113 CM (5'1" × 3'8"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 17 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
