ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven In Sirjan Kerman Southeastern Persia.
Sirajn Soumak rugs are world-famous for their intricate designs and durable double-weft construction.
Soumaks are flatweaves made using the warp replacement technique. Soumak weaving requires significantly more expertise and time as opposed to a flatweave Kilim.
Made of sustainably and locally sourced handspun wool using organic dyes, This fine Soumak symbolizes a traditional Persian garden design, depicting garden beds interconnected with water channels, in Kheshti (brick) design. Incorporating a combination of Soumak flat weave for the floral garden beds and fine pile weave to replicate the water channels interconnecting these beds.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
177 × 133 CM (5'10" × 4'4"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 27 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
