ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven using handspun wool and natural dye in Ardabil, Northwestern Iran, this kilim features a captivating iteration of the peacock motif on its body.
Kilims are a terrific type of rug that is usually made from wool which is interwoven rather than knotted; this means that the surface is ‘flat’ instead of having a ‘pile’. Kilims exhibit some of the most original and unique designs within Persian rugs, with simple fields of colours, geometric shapes and symbols and motifs of flora and fauna. With their minimal design elements, they are ideally suited for various interiors.
