Antique Qashqai Persian Rug

ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven by Qashqai nomads of south-western Persia, this rug is a unique work of art that carries the spirit of nomadic life.
Its deep crimson field is alive with a series of diamond medallions, surrounded by scattered rosettes and geometric motifs that suggest an aerial view of pastures, plants, and nomadic symbols. Angular corner brackets frame the central design, while the richly patterned border in warm reds, indigos, and earthy greens creates balance and rhythm.
Woven on horizontal looms with handspun wool and natural dyes, this piece embodies sustainable craftsmanship and centuries of tradition. Each shade, from madder red to indigo blue, comes from natural sources, giving the rug a depth and vibrancy that lasts.
Recognised by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible heritage, Qashqai weaving preserves a cultural legacy while offering timeless beauty for contemporary interiors.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
232 × 145 CM (7'7" × 4'9"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
About the length of a 3-seater sofa, so it sits just in front of it with the coffee table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island rather than a rug that came up short.
Only 33 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Under the lower part of a double bed with 47 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
