ABOUT THIS PIECE
Antique Tacheh, From Chahr Mahal region in Zagros mountains. Tachehs are handwoven textiles uniquely woven in the region of Chaharmah Western Persia as traditional grain storage bags. Tachehs are famous for their unique free-spirited designs often incorporating many different weaving techniques (Carpet, Kilim, Sumacs) into one piece. As Tachehs are made for personal or family use, they are viewed as an opportunity by the weavers to experiment with colours, construction methods and motifs resulting in unique eye-catching pieces, highly desired by collectors around the world. Having been woven to carry heavy loads over long distances, Tachehs feature robust and durable materials and construction in order to ensure durability and longevity making them suited for use both as floor or wall art.
Tacheh, which means small sack, is handwoven from handspun wool on a cotton foundation.
