ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven by Afshar nomads inhabiting the mountains of Kerman eastern Persia, in an improvised iteration of the famous Sine riz motif.
Made of some of the finest nomadic sourced wools and natural dyes, Afshar Kilims ( flatweaves) are world-famous for their unique designs and sense of colour.
Sumac style small stars are typically woven in the field and sides of Afshar Kilims and are a good sign for differentiating original pieces with copies,
Generally, the more numerous and dense these stars are the finer is the Kilim.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
180 × 135 CM (5'11" × 4'5"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
About the length of a 3-seater sofa, so it sits just in front of it with the coffee table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island rather than a rug that came up short.
Only 28 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
