ABOUT THIS PIECE
Very fine parde carpet, Handwoven in the Qoltoq village of Zanjan, northwestern Persia.
This unique carpet expertly crafted in the rug-making center of Qoltoq captures the profound harmony in design and chromatic brilliance of the best pieces from this cherished area. On a foliar dark base, its hexahedral medallion is bejeweled by an Ivory “fountain” centerpiece, with attendant birds and flexy leaves drawing the viewer into the dazzling display of Heaven.
Woven from high-quality local handspun wool, on a durable cotton foundation, using all-natural dyes to achieve a beautiful unique Abrash colouring,
A highly desired quality, Abrash refers to when different shades of the same colour are present on a carpet, revealing expert use of dyes and small-scale manufacturing of the carpet.

300 × 160 CM (9'10" × 5'3"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 40 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
Under the lower part of a king bed with 59 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
