Vintage Zanjan Checkerd Lachak Persian Rug
ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven by nomads of Zanjan province in northwestern Persia.
Made from sustainably and locally sourced handspun Wool and natural dyes.
Nomadic carpets are unique pieces of art, handwoven over many years through improvisation and reference to folk iconography specific to each region. Nomadic carpets often depict an aerial view abstraction of the weaver’s pastoral nomadic life and their place in the universe, featuring many animals, people and plants and fields.
This distinctive contemporary carpet with the iteration of blue, sky-blue, and black squares in its body, reminding Gabbeh’s designs, suits well for various ideas in interior design.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
270 × 163 CM (8'10" × 5'4"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 42 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
Under the lower part of a queen bed with 59 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
