ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven by Baluch nomads and villagers in southeastern Persia, Made from local and sustainably sourced handspun wool, Balouch rugs are soft and flexible yet extremely resilient and have a real feel of age and history behind them.
In terms of design, Baluch rugs are famous for the repetition of a singular pattern all over the rugs. They normally use geometrical motifs consisting of hexagons, rectangles, and triangles to create an amazing visual effect. The colours used in these rugs are mostly dark tones of red, brown, blue, purple and ivory. Most of the Baluch rugs have a heavy use of dark outlines and shades making the original shades of colours used even darker.
