ABOUT THIS PIECE
This Persian Tarom rug showcases the timeless weaving tradition of north-western Iran with a bold, geometric flair. At its heart sits a striking central medallion in rich terracotta red, framed by deep navy and accented with hooked motifs that symbolise protection and continuity. Around the medallion, intricate floral and tribal patterns unfold in earthy tones of ivory, gold and rust, adding layers of depth and character.
Handwoven from fine, durable wool, this rug combines a soft, inviting texture with exceptional resilience, perfect for both decorative and everyday use. The detailed border, rendered in vibrant blues and warm ochres, anchors the composition and highlights the rug’s symmetry and balance.
With its vivid contrast of reds and blues, this Tarom rug embodies the artistry of Persian nomadic design. Whether placed in a lounge, study or entryway, it serves as both a functional floor covering and a work of art, carrying centuries of craftsmanship into the modern home.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
208 × 125 CM (6'10" × 4'1"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
About the length of a 3-seater sofa, so it sits just in front of it with the coffee table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island rather than a rug that came up short.
Only 23 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Only 28 cm of rug would show either side of a queen bed. It works, but 45 cm or more looks settled. At the foot of the bed it suits well.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
