ABOUT THIS PIECE
This exquisite Qashqai rug features a rare and powerful medallion: the legendary scene of Bahram V (Bahram Gur) battling a lion. Rooted in ancient Persian epic and royal folklore, the image tells the story of a pivotal moment: When Bahram, to end political division and prove his worthiness for the throne, proposed a divine trial. He offered to either duel his rival Khosrow or retrieve the crown placed between two lions. Choosing the latter, Bahram bravely defeated both beasts, earning the crown and the respect of nobles and rivals alike.
The medallion not only symbolises heroism and rightful rule but also Bahram’s vow to govern with justice, restoring dignity to the people and introducing long-awaited reforms. Handwoven by Qashqai nomads, known for their vibrant natural dyes and intricate symbolism, this rug is more than a decorative piece, it’s a woven legend, embodying Persian courage and wisdom.

SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
168 × 121 CM (5'6" × 4'), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 21 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
