ABOUT THIS PIECE
A narrow Persian carpet runner from the Baluch weavers of eastern Khorasan, this piece unfolds a repeated chalipa (cross) lattice framed by walnut-brown borders alive with stylised bird’s-head vines. Deep russet grounds, nutmeg browns and pockets of black-green echo desert earth at dusk, while tiny citron and rose specks add quick flashes of light. The wool pile sits dense and velvety, holding colour with a gentle, even abrash that speaks to hand-dyed yarns. Compact format and supple handle make it an effortless hallway accent or gallery-style wall display. A fine example of tribal rug artistry, it offers collectors a warm, lived-in palette that pairs easily with timber floors, steel furniture or concrete interiors.
