ABOUT THIS PIECE
finely crafted in Jiroft, within the Kerman Province of Southeastern Persia, this piece is meticulously handwoven. Using fine, sustainably sourced local handspun wool, it features a robust, dense cotton foundation and elegant braided fringes.
In Jiroft carpets, patterns are intricately woven and repeated across their surfaces. The majority of these designs are systematically classified, emerging through repetition and cohesive arrangement. This composition exemplifies a spirit of solidarity, revealing the people’s innate sense of cooperation. It is a reflection of the region’s cultural values, where friendship and love are integral components, evident in the moras of the community.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
254 × 148 CM (8'4" × 4'10"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Long enough for a 3-seater sofa but not deep enough to reach under its front legs as well as hold the coffee table, so it sits just in front with the table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island.
Only 34 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Under the lower part of a queen bed with 51 cm of rug showing on each side, so your feet land on it either side of the bed.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
