New Weave Fine Mazandaran Minimalist Checkered Persian Kilim Rug
ABOUT THIS PIECE
Finely Handwoven in Mazandaran northern Persia,
Handwoven using fine local handspun wool and 100% natural dyes, generating beautiful Abrash colouring.
The various villagers and pastoral nomads of the highlands of Mazandaran have traditionally produced minimalist flatweave Kilims with quite distinct designs.
Made of a series of vertical panels woven on a narrow horizontal loom painstakingly hand-stitched together to create one larger piece, the intricate motifs of these kilims are similar to abstract modernist paintings.
These flatweave kilims are made using the highest quality materials and finest traditional weaving techniques, guaranteeing their durability and longevity over many decades.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
195 × 150 CM (6'5" × 4'11"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
About the length of a 3-seater sofa, so it sits just in front of it with the coffee table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island rather than a rug that came up short.
The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 35 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
Only 21 cm of rug would show either side of a queen bed. It works, but 45 cm or more looks settled. At the foot of the bed it suits well.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
