This striking Mazandaran kilim runner from northern Iran embodies the minimalist aesthetic for which these rare textiles are celebrated. Woven in interlocking panels, the piece juxtaposes tranquil sky-blue bands with a dramatic central striation of charcoal, ivory, and soft grey. The effect recalls shifting light over the Caspian landscape, where the Mazandarani weavers developed a unique visual language distinct from other Persian kilim traditions.
Crafted entirely from handspun wool, the kilim displays subtle tonal abrash, a hallmark of natural dyes and artisanal production.
