ABOUT THIS PIECE
Finely handwoven in the Mazandaran region of northern Persia, this kilim represents one of the rare and highly sought-after weaves of the area. Crafted from locally handspun wool and dyed with 100% natural pigments, it reflects the authenticity and skill of a centuries-old tradition.
The design is created from a series of narrow vertical panels, each woven individually on a horizontal loom and then carefully hand-stitched together. This construction gives rise to a striking patchwork of colour, where small panels in vibrant tones, ranging from warm reds and yellows to cool blues and greens, combine in rhythmic harmony. The result is a bold yet balanced composition that recalls the spirit of abstract modernist art.
Celebrated for their rarity and understated beauty, Mazandaran kilims are prized by collectors and designers alike. Durable and timeless, this piece embodies the artistry and elegance of the Mazandaran Minimalist Stripes Kilim.
