ABOUT THIS PIECE
This Persian rug presents a playful yet disciplined mosaic of jewel toned squares in madder red, deep indigo, pistachio green, and saffron ochre, framing a serene ivory panel at the center. Woven by Qashqai artisans in Fars Province during the late 1980s to 1990s vegetable dye revival, the composition reflects a return to hand spun wool and traditional dyeing after decades of synthetic dominance. The ivory wool warps and dark wool wefts create a warm, organic handle, while the medium knot density ensures a dense but supple pile. Subtle abrash within the colour blocks reveals small batch dyeing and open air drying, hallmarks of authentic tribal production. Professional washing and shearing have restored the surface to a gallery ready state without compromising depth or vibrancy. Whether displayed as a floor accent or hung as a work of textile art, this Gabbeh rug merges contemporary geometry with deep Persian weaving heritage.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
153 × 100 CM (5' × 3'3"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 10 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
