ABOUT THIS PIECE
Handwoven by Baluch nomads and villagers in southeastern Persia, This antique Baluch Pa Fili rug has been made from local and sustainably sourced handspun wool.
Baluch rugs are soft and flexible yet extremely resilient and have a real feel of age and history behind them. In terms of design, Baluch rugs are famous for the repetition of a singular pattern all over the rugs. They normally use geometrical motifs consisting of hexagons, rectangles, and triangles to create an amazing visual effect. The colours used in these rugs are mostly dark tones of red, brown, blue, purple and ivory. Most of the Baluch rugs have a heavy use of dark outlines and shades making the original shades of colours used even darker. Woven over a century ago this carpet still maintains its natural lustre due to the high-quality materials used in its construction.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
175 × 103 CM (5'9" × 3'5"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 12 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
