Kalporegan pottery

BY BEHNAM KHAZAEI
Kalporegan pottery

A living piece of ancient history

The women of Kalporegan in Persia’s east have been hand-forging pottery for 7,000 years, handing their skill and artistry down from generation to generation. UNESCO-listed as the oldest pottery production in the world, this ancient craft uses strictly locally sourced materials from plants and soil surrounding the village.
