Saddle bags were used as carriage pieces for Horses,mules and camels. As they were generally carrying heavy food stuff such as grains over long distances, they were made only of the finest wool and densest weaving technique in order to ensure longevity.Goats hair was used in this piece as according to local beliefs it helps in keeping the snakes that might be drawn nearby by the foodstuff away.
