ABOUT THIS PIECE

Handwoven by Afshar nomads inhabiting the mountains of Kerman, this fine Toubreh was woven about 2 centuries ago using the finest local wool and natural dyes only, in a fine Soumak weave,

Toubreh is a unique piece of woven art initially made for the transport of grains and goods over long distances using horses or other pack animals.

As Toubrehs are made for personal or family use, they are viewed as an opportunity by the weavers to experiment with colours, construction methods and motifs, resulting in unique eye-catching pieces.

Having been woven to carry heavy loads over long distances, Toubreh features robust and durable materials and construction in order to ensure longevity.
