ABOUT THIS PIECE
Qalamkar – meaning ‘pen’ and ‘craftsmanship’ – is a centuries old art form in Persia. A pen-like blade is used to carve walnut wood into stamps which are then colored with local, naturally produced dyes before being meticulously applied to 100% cotton fabric. Through a methodical layering process, beautiful, multi-colored patterns emerge. We collaborate with a workshop with over 100 years of experience in this art to produce these unique and intricate pieces. All pieces are washable in Cold water and would not fade.
