ABOUT THIS PIECE
This impressive Heriz Goravan carpet has been handwoven using high-quality handspun wool and natural dye.
Heriz Goravan carpets exemplify a distinctive rural style of Persian rug weaving, handwoven in the Goravan village situated in the East Azerbaijan province in the northwest of Iran. Crafted with a combination of cotton warp and wool pile, this carpet showcases the traditional Geometric Toranj design, a hallmark of Persian rug design, with unique taste. Predominantly featuring hues of blue, red, pea, and brick, Heriz Goravan carpets capture the essence of the region’s artistic expression.
Heriz carpet weavers often make them in geometric, bold patterns with a large exquisite medallion dominating the field. Typically, the carpet is woven from memory, without the map. It’s not surprising because, since the beginning of the 16 century, the artisans in Heriz have traditionally been making only this type of carpet.
Another fascinating point about the motifs of the Heriz carpet is that they are the one of few carpets in which real stories are a source of its motifs. In fact, all the motifs woven on the Heriz carpets are stories that ancestors turned into the language of art and woven on a carpet to be passed on to future generations.

Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
