This charming Semi-antique Afshar carpet has been handwoven by Afshar nomads inhabiting the mountains of Kerman province, central Persia.
Woven from fine sustainably sourced local handspun wool and natural dyes, Afshar carpets are famous for their unique designs and durable construction.
Nomadic carpets are unique pieces of art, handwoven over many years through improvisation and reference to folk iconography specific to each region and using fine, locally sourced and handspun wool. Nomadic carpets often depict an aerial view abstraction of the weaver’s pastoral nomadic life and their place in the universe, featuring many animals, people and plants and fields.
