ABOUT THIS PIECE
Finely handwoven from high-quality handspun wool on a cotton foundation in an iteration of the famous Lachak Toranj motif in the highly reputed rug-weaving city of Kashan, Central Iran.
Kashan carpet is one of the best urban carpets in Iran and the direct legacy of the “Golden Age of Persian Weaving”. One of the distinctive characteristics of Kashan rugs is their exceptional fineness, so that the details of all the motifs are clearly visible, as well as the velvet-like surface which is due to the use of excellent wool. furthermore, Kashan is the birthplace of dyeing in the world, and this has led to the use of superior dyes in Kashan carpets.
Woven over half a century ago this carpet still maintains its natural lustre and shine due to high-quality materials and tightly woven construction.
Traditional carpet weaving techniques in Kashan were chosen as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, by UNESCO.
SPECIFICATIONS
How it sits in your room.
150 × 97 CM (4'11" × 3'2"), DRAWN TO SCALE WITH TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE SIZES.
Small beside a 3-seater sofa. It suits a reading corner, under an armchair or across an entry better than a sofa setting.
Only 9 cm of rug would show beyond even a four-seat table, so the chairs would sit off it. This one belongs in a living room or bedroom.
Narrower than a queen bed, so it sits across the foot of the bed, tucked 20 cm under. A pair of runners either side is the other way to dress a bed this size.
Measure the room, or just the area the rug should cover, and we will draw this rug in it to scale.
