ABOUT THIS PIECE
Woven from high-quality handspun wool on a cotton foundation with natural dyes by villagers of Bocharlu in Hamadan Region, western Iran, one of the world’s oldest cities, dating back to before 1100 BC.
The Bocharlu rug is a unique rural Persian carpet from central Iran, cherished both locally and internationally. Known for vibrant floral patterns, it often features medallion and fish designs on camel, rose, blue, or ivory backgrounds. Its distinct circular medallions, framed by floral motifs, add elegance and traditional charm.
Hamadan hand-woven carpet is a unique carpet among Iranian hand-woven carpets, which is woven with a technique known as “single weft”. After the knotting of each row (or Raj in Farsi) is completed, the weaver places a row of weft on the new row and hits it firmly with a comb, in this way, the row of carpet threads is visible. As a result, a distinctive design is created, where the strings of warp are placed in the middle of the map and are seen as part of the carpet texture.

About the length of a 3-seater sofa, so it sits just in front of it with the coffee table on it. Floated like this it reads as a deliberate island rather than a rug that came up short.
The chairs sit on the rug at the table, but with 35 cm of rug beyond the table their back legs catch the edge when pulled out. 60 cm is the comfortable margin.
Only 29 cm of rug would show either side of a queen bed. It works, but 45 cm or more looks settled. At the foot of the bed it suits well.
